In the words of Pope Francis…The world does not need empty words but convinced witnesses, peacemakers who are open to a dialogue that rejects exclusion or manipulation. In fact, we cannot truly achieve peace without a convinced dialogue between men and women who seek the truth beyond ideologies and differing opinions….
Contributors of peace such as Martin Luther King, Abraham Lincoln, Ghandi, Mother Teresa, Saint Paul, Pope Francis, has paved the way to peace and democracy to help us built a better society and world.
Pope Francis’s view is so coherent with current and immediate developments in the world: “Peace and international stability are incompatible with attempts to build upon the fear of mutual destruction or the threat of total annihilation. They can be achieved only on the basis of a global ethic of solidarity and cooperation in the service of a future shaped by interdependence and shared responsibility in the whole human family of today and tomorrow”.
They summon our consciousness so that we can acknowledge and except our responsibilities with regard to others as leaders, individuals, human beings and of the limits placed upon the freedom of individuals or the groups”. As Saint Paul VI pointed out, these “two aspirations, to equality and to participation, seek to promote a democratic society…” Furthermore, Pope Francis in his speech says: Yet patient efforts based on the power of the word and of truth can help foster a greater capacity for compassion and creative solidarity…
…Pope Francis continues in his message for the celebration of 53rd world day of peace that, what is more, memory is the horizon of hope. Upon the hit of earthquakes in Albania, gestures of solidarity unleashed great energies and kindled hope in homes and communities.
When we learn to live in forgiveness, we grow in our capacity to become men and women of peace. Patience and trust is needed to reconcile home, communities, nations. We need to wish for peace. As in the words of Ghandi: Strength does not come from physical capacity. It comes from an indomitable will. Our strength comes from God and our force of will…
